Dr. Hood's Research Lab
Social Skills, Assessment, Intervention & Learning
SSAIL is a university-based research clinic at Marquette University. Our team consists of Dr. Stephanie Hood, Ph.D., BCBA-D as well as undergraduate and graduate students.
Mission
To transform the lives of our clients by actualizing their personal goals through innovative research and interventions.
Our Vision
The SSAIL Center is leading the development of new interventions to promote independence and increase our client’s overall wellbeing and quality of life through increased participation in the community, workforce, and interpersonal relationships. In addition, the SSAIL Center provides a high-quality educational training environment for the next generation of scientist-practitioners.
Values
Client and Culturally Centered Practice
We aim to collaborate with our clients to consistently tailor our approach to incorporate their values and meet their individual goals.
Culturally Centered Training
We aspire to provide culturally sensitive mentorship and increase the representation within the field of behavior analysis.
Inclusive
We provide services to clients with a variety of diagnostic and presenting concerns that encompasses all forms of neurodiversity. We welcome and strive to provide a safe environment to individuals of any and all identities. Individuals of all gender identities; sexual orientations; income levels; race and ethnicities; you are valued here.
Guiding Quote:
“Those who fall in love with practice without science are like a sailor who enters a ship without a helm or a compass, and who never can be certain whither he is going.” – Leonardo da Vinci
Integrity
Our clinicians act with integrity and honesty. We abide by our ethical and professional conduct guidelines. We place a high value on say-do correspondence (doing what we say and saying what we mean). We implement treatment protocols in the manner in which they were designed and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of our outcomes.
Compassionate
We want to make the workplace an environment that promotes personal growth. We appreciate others’ perspectives and situations when different from our own. We genuinely care about our clients’ and co-workers’ needs and strive to collaborate to achieve shared outcomes.
